Fortune Fish

We did an experiment on a Fortune Teller Fish. This fish is a miracle fish because it tells you personal things about you. I think it is very interesting how something as small as this could tell so much. This fish has a story to tell everyone and giving the knowledge on the back of the package tells us what everything he does in the palm of our hand. It is unique and very interesting to learn, see, and experience.
What did you do to investigate your fortune fish?
As I went about this investigation I tried many things including water, heat, and having other people try different experiences. When submerge the fish into water for less than 10 seconds, I took it out and dried and put back in my hand it did nothing. I left it to dry out for a day and it happen to be able to move everything the next day. It was super shocking for me to see that. I didn't understand it at first but it makes sense the more you look at it.
Overall, when I look at the experiment I think The fish grabs onto the moisture on the surface of your palm. We as humans hands have a lot of sweat glands, with that being said the plastic (fish) is immediately bonded to moisture.
What did I learn through this activity?
That this fortune fish can not make anything happen without the moisture from the palm of your hand. With that being said when you try other parts of your hand and body you can tell that the fish has no moisture to continue to work

  4. I love the amount of different ways you investigated how this fish works. There are so many different questions that a person can have about these fish. Without diving deeper into these questions to really figure out the truth behind these interesting fish.

  5. What made you initially put the fish in the water? Did online research help you or did you just have an inclination that moisture might have something to do with the curling and squirming of the fish? Additionally, I was surprised to see your first paragraph. Did the fish tell you anything about yourself that you didn't know already? How seriously should we consider the information/fortune it is telling us?

  6. I enjoyed reading your post, Cassidy! I also wondered if it had anything to do with heat or moisture. When you asked other people to try it, did you see a lot of different results? I love how you carried out so many investigations!

  7. Cassidy:
I enjoyed reading about what steps you took to solve the problem of the fortune fish. However, I was wondering what happen to your fish when you tried the other experiments. The conclusion that you came to makes sense. I original thought the fortune fish only reacted to the heat of a persons hand. But after reading your experiment, I think it also has to deal with the moisture of the hand.

  8. I really enjoyed your blog Cassidy. I thought that the fish only moved because of heat. Now looking at your ideas on the fish moving I think you made a very good point. Moisture could be the cause.

  9. Cassidy,
I agree that I think it has to do with moisture! This seems to be a common theme among many of the blogs. I was wondering what you meant by the fact that the fish didn't do well after being submerged in water. I do wonder if other parts of our body, such as our face, would also cause the fish to curl.

  10. I had some of the same beginning steps as you did Cassidy. My fishy went through of the same stress tests and I did not dry mine out since I ran out of time so I thought it would just stay restless. I wonder how many times the fish can be soaked until it stops working entirely? Overall, my experiment and observation outcome were similar to yours.
